From Elite to Super Elite - new lay up from 2026

The Elite lay up was Epic's carbon lay up for many years. Epic has also previously dabbled with pre-preg GT skis but the default in recent years here in Australia, has been the 3k carbon / gel coat produced carbon ski, finished in grey (and previously black).
A consistent 10.5kg ski, it was a great lay up but like all performance based products, it was a bit of a juggle between durability & performance.
In the continued search for stronger, stiffer and lighter skis, the team at Epic have developed, tested and approved a new Elite lay up, called the Super Elite. This incorporates the very latest technologies to provide a stiff, high performing, super light and durable ski - we believe it is industry leading and will make you faster, quite literally.
This lay up utilises pre-impregnated carbon and the highest quality materials, coupled with the latest Autoclave technology to produce a ski with a finished weight of 8.5kg-9kg, depending on the model.
You have read that right - finished weight is circa 8.5kg!!
In addition to the above, the skis are now painted meaning we will provide a small range of colours for those customers wanting some personality on and off the water.
The biggest changes to the new Super Elite lay up are:
• use of the highest grade pre-preg materials (carbon), ensuring minimal wastage and maximum bond for all skis

• use of autoclave technology, combining heat and pressure to ensure structural integrity, flawless hydrodynamics and an incredibly clean aesthetic
• skis are painted with automotive grade paint, producing an aesthetically clean ski with a (near) perfect finish
• the skis will have a seamless finish and will weigh 8.5-9kg. This will make the ski more lively and those considering the lay up should consider the type of paddling they intend to indulge in and couple that with the right Epic model for ultimate enjoyment out on the water.
The new Super Elite is the tip of the spear when it comes to ski performance. Available across all models from July 2026 in a phased roll out.
Pricing is extremely competitive for a ski of this construction - $6,550 delivered in most metro cities in Australia (for singles v8 and up), which we believe is very well priced considering the nature of this ski. For further information, please refer to the below for a snapshot difference of the two layups and/or contact Epic Kayaks Australia directly for more information.
