From Ultra to Super Ultra - new lay up from 2026

For many years, Epic skis have been known for their white skis with red tips. Known as the ultra lay up, this construction method simply describes how the boat was put together.
The Ultra has served paddlers and Epic for many many years - it's a great construction. However, in the continued search for stronger, stiffer and lighter skis, the team at Epic have developed, tested and approved a new ultra lay up, called the Super Ultra. Still white with red tips, the biggest changes to the new lay up are:
• use of the highest grade pre-preg materials, ensuring minimal wastage and maximum bond for all skis

Still white with red tips, the biggest changes to the new lay up are:
• use of the highest grade pre-preg materials, ensuring minimal wastage and maximum bond for all skis
• use of autoclave technology, combining heat and pressure to ensure structural integrity, flawless hydrodynamics and an incredibly clean aesthetic
• skis are painted with automotive grade paint, producing an aesthetically clean ski with a (near) perfect finish
• the skis will have a seamless finish and will weigh sub/approx 11kg, providing a great balance of durability, performance and value.
The new Super Ultra is a crisp, striking ski - leveraging the existing great looks of the iconic red swoosh and Epic brand.
The new Super Ultra lay up will be rolled out for all models from July 2026. Pricing is extremely competitive for a ski of this construction - $5,400 delivered in most metro cities in Australia (for singles v8 and up), which we believe is well priced considering the nature of this ski. For further information, please refer to the below for a snapshot difference of the two layups and/or contact Epic Kayaks Australia directly for more information.
